I have been in the process of rebuilding a 2.4 engine from scratch - shells, bearings, the whole lot. I can honestly say that engines are not my strong point - body and paint more my line.
Anyway, after much deliberation, check, double check and check what you gone over 3 times already, the day has finally dawned for the switch on.
A good friend of mine had made a test rig and so it is on there, out of the car.

Pleased to say, IT LIVES !!!!

Just gotta see how much oil its gonna drop now - I have absolutely NO doubt it will - I am not that lucky
Boy does it sound good though !!

Well done.

Can you post a pic of your test rig? I want to also make one in the near future.

Thanks

Alan

Alan,

a couple of wooden bearers an oil tank, battery and a GTX can for fuel. job done.

As long as you are sensible most engines can be run up with the simplest set up. I used to run up 7.4 big blocks powerboat engines on the shop floor.
Mind you once a Detriot stroker diesel ran away.. that was interesting !!!

Perhaps a test rig is a good idea. :?

Will post a pic of the test rig later this week, it basically was constructed from 3 inch square box section with 2 'floating arms to pick up on the engine mounts and 2 upright sections with long bolts pointing up on which the gearbox mount lines up / drops onto.
The result is a very sturdy frame at approx 4 feet off the ground with my engine on.
There is accommoation for the oil tank at the side of the engine, if I can suss out how to post pics you will see.
A little crude but damn effective !!
