Carbon Dynamic Airbox

Post by sladey »

Just ordered one of these (Carbon Dynamic Airbox)

http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/p ... ction.html

Anyone got any experience of these? Not sure if I'm wasting my money or not

I'm letting my insurers know about it first - concerned that on the BMC website it said they are for race purposes only

I would save your money mate.

All you have to do to unleash more horsepower from the induction system in your 3.2 is do what Porsche did with the Cup modification. Just take the lid off your existing airbox and drill holes in it or better yet do what I did and what Porsche did cut the lid off leaving just the frame, which will bolt back to your airbox.

On Pelican a few have had dyno runs I think found that drilling or cutting the airbox has realeased equal or more power.

Also the car sounds a bit more race. 8)

Almost all standard airboxes are restrictive, I guess its mainly to reduce noise.

As Alam said just cut holes in the airbox, obviously on the outer side of the filter so it still does it's job.

I've already done it on the Honda and Saab, a tank cutter and drill and the jobs a good un.

Send it back and save your money for other goodies

Hummmmm I have to remove the airbox on the Passat. To change the o/s headlamp bulb. Good design, huh?

Funny that - I was in Kirkby this morning and wondered where your work was - you up for a lunchtime pint sometime?

Dream on!

I think I'm turning into some sort of porsche tart - I went for lunch on Wednesday with Pedders - another DDK member - who wanted to look at my car. It was good to talk to someone about the car without them falling asleep.

- Just letting you know so you don't feel too special!

Anyway going home now

Cheers

you slut!

who's this Pedders anyway?

I'm cool for a pint, though things are going abit wayward at work at the moment as I'm 'spheres out' before my paternity leave arrives. Things should settle down after that, I tend to go to 'Up the Junction' or whatever its called.

Does that sounds gibberish?

No worries - give us a shout when you're back after paternity - when's the baby due? Is it your first? (we've got 3)

Cheers

Hello!

I've been lurking in the shadows of this forum for some time now, on account of being at that most creative and lowest cost stage of any car related project -I've not started yet...

Thanks for taking the time to show me your car Sladey, which looks even better in the flesh (er, metal), by the way!

All the best.

Pedders
