I test drove my 911 today for the first time since the C3 engine went in and it rapidly became apparent that the car would benefit from a new set of shocks . I am sure the one’s I currently have are Boge’s as the strut housings are black. I had budgeted for a brake freshen up, however the brakes are perfectly adequate as I found out today, so I think I’ll spend the dosh on suspension first. Can anyone recommend the best inserts to get (will bilstein’s go in?) and if so where might one find a sensibly priced set for all corners? I know they‘re not cheap. The car will also be fitted with factory front/rear anti roll bars.

Btw the 3.0 carrera engine sounded really nice, the car pulled like it was in 1st/2nd through every other gear , AND I’m not sure we were even getting full throttle either . There are still have a couple of tweeks to do and then it’s happy days. From today’s little ‘bedding in’ run I have a feeling this is going to be a hilarious car. I promise to write up some info and post some pics when it’s all finished.

I have a brand new pair of H/D Armstrong inserts which are correct for your struts..

I've acquired Bilsteins complete with the Turbo brakes..

It's a straightforward job. Bilsteins will fit your Boge struts. I bought mine from Autofarm (rears) and Design 911 (fronts). Having bought the rears from Autofarm I realised how much more I had paid compared to other sources.

Thanks for the offer David but if I can put bilsteins/koni's in there I think I'll go that route.
Can anyone recommend any suppliers?

I bought my Bilsteins from Matthew at www.Type911.co.uk. For the front you will need the 'Bilstein insert for Boge struts variety' - he's normally quite good on prices; it may also be worth trying Euro Car Parts - they're generally quite keen on pricing too.

I found that design911 good on price but I expect that your right Ian Eurocar parts will be the best

I checked both Type911 and Euro Car Parts after my posting - you'd need to get a good discount at ECP if you were to beat Matthew's prices and you might get a discount from him for buying all four at the same time.

If you plan to upgrade your brakes in the future you will need brake mounts with a 3.5inch spacing. I would make sure you have this rather than the 3 inch spacing. Might be cheaper in the long run.

Get that baby set up Darren.. then come to the airfield track day in November.

I'll try my best, the MOT is due in 2 weeks which is when I go on holiday, so I'm going to book a test as soon as the car is finished. That way I may have a bit of time to sort any potential issues before I go away and then I'll have a week when I get back to build up some confidence in the car before the trackday on the 20th.
