DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

I need to have some window frames and some alloy motorcycle rims anodised. Any information , experiences , tips, hints and recommendations would be gratefully received. I am based near Guildford but wherever, many thanks, Glynn.

A1 Anodising of Crawley did some pushbike parts for me and they were fine.

Yes A1 are the boys. First you will need to get them stripped, then polished before anodising. Send me a PM Glynn.

Mr Muscle oven cleaner,soaked on for a good few hours,eats away at previous anodising.

Risky bit for me was polishing without stressing the frame joints as they are a bit fragile when out of the car

Agreed. Firstly stripping the parts into bits can be tricky and may need a machinist. Then polishing the parts is challenging, as Gary says. Parts are then anodised and may have imperfections so will need to be polished and anodised again. It can be a tricky and frustrating process.

Which is exactly why I stopped at the ‘polishing’ stage!

A few years and lots of weather and miles later they are still good. Just a quick wipe with some autosol every 6 months, but really no tarnish of note.

You have to be careful with re-anodisng the frames. The anodising process will dissolve the steel inserts. If you can press them out and replace them with new then that's well worth doing.
