DAB aerial on targa bar
Getting a little miffed that I keep losing the external DAB windscreen aerials. They're not cheap, they don't like the slight curve of the windscreen and they object to hitting branches of trees.
So, my options now include putting up with the poor performance of an internal glass aerial (my temporary stop gap), or maybe fitting an external aerial to my targa hoop. This latter can be further split into 1) - shark's fin (will this look too modern ?), 2) simple external dab aerial (cables run under the targa hoop, but potentially messy if I need to remove the targa hoop cover - although not needed to do that since I restored the care) or 3) a magnetic aerial (would need the aerial cable to run across the roof and probably in the side window).
What say you all (or maybe I just use Spotify instead)

Re: DAB aerial on targa bar
If sticking with dab, I think a hidden aerial is the way to go. I wouldn't put a modern one on the outside of the targa hoop - it's a key part of the look of the car.
How are you losing them? If they fail to adhere, are you cleaning the screen thoroughly enough beforehand?

I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

Re: DAB aerial on targa bar
Just a thought but why does it need to be on the outside of the screen? I have an after market one and its fitted inside.

Can you hide a stubby antenna behind the horn grill?

Re: DAB aerial on targa bar
Thx all
I was concerned that they targa bar would be ‘defaced’ by an aerial.
They attach well (plenty of cleaning), but are fitting onto a gently curved area (need to avoid the elements in the heated windscreen). Maybe I need to fix the outer sides of the aerial, rather than the whole pad to allow for the curve.
Réception with the internal ones is not as good as the external glass ones
No horn grill on my IB targa

Re: DAB aerial on targa bar
I used one of these on my motorhome, which connects the DAB output to a normal car antenna (on the wing).

I don't have another point of reference in terms of its performance, but it works pretty well I would say.
Please don't put a shark fin on the Targa bar !!

Re: DAB aerial on targa bar
I know that some of the chaps with Splitscreen vans use an aerial fitted behind the front bumper.
Maybe it would work on the Targa.
