Hi Everyone,

Another Yorkshire Newbie with a 1972(MY) 2.4S. Unfortunately I got caught up in the problems at Gmund Cars where my car was in for restoration and I only managed to rescue the part completed shell, engine, gearbox, suspension and some of the glass, everything else went walkabout. The shell is now finally heading to paint at what is now the third restoration shop after the second one also folded and I'm trying to collect all of the bits to finish the car. It is an early 2.4 delivered in October 71 and was very highly specced by the first owner. I hope to finish the car sometime next year but that is dependant on finding all the right bits and having deep enough pockets to pay for them.

Hi Mike, I am pretty sure I have seen your shell over the years with Russell? He restored my car, obviously gutted he went to EB Motorsports. I run the Yorks region of TIPEC, so happy to help or pop along to one of our meets, we have a few classics, mostly watercooled though. I am in Boston Spa. You will get great advice on here though and have definitely come to the right place.

Who is looking after the car now?

Hi, welcome to DDK!
If you're around on 11/12th May, we hope to be competing at Harewood in our (rather!!!) modified 1972 2.4S.
Sorry to hear of your disasters locally, I hope you get the car sorted soon

Cheers

Hi All, Thank you for the warm welcome, I'm sure I will be bothering you for advice as I start to collect bits for the rebuild and hopefully start putting it back together again, particularly you James as you have a similar car and live close by.
Yes Jonny that was my shell with Russell, its now being finished at RBW so hopefully I'll get it back in a couple of months and the build can commence, I'll try to get to one of your meetings soon.
