1970 - Stone Chip on sills?

Post by RobFrost »

A question to the DDK hive mind - 1970 911T. My sills have stone chip on below a certain height. To replicate how it left the factory, should this be kept or restored to flat steel?

I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

Buzzzzz. Restore the stone chip. I have it on my 1970 S.

Up to what height? Hard to say now the trim's off, new sill on and only the rear wing to go by, but I think mine were masked above trim height and stone chipped below.

What trims do you have? Mine has the full height trims and it’s clean paint above and stone chip below. As they almost cover the entire sill you’d have to lay on the floor to see the stonechip.

It had the thin T trims but I don't plan on putting them back on because the drill holes and trapped water caused one of the few rust spots on the car.

My 1970 is currently in storage so I cannot be sure exactly where the stone chip finishes. As an S model there are thin brightwork trims on the sills.
