Very cheap early 911 or am I missing something?

One bid, no reserve, sold!
I’m not an expert but I didn’t register to bid as I expected it to go to the US for a lot more money.
I think the only bid was a remote one from Europe, I didn’t examine the car physically.
Not ideal for me as I really want a 2.2 or 2.4 but at that price……

I was amazed at the lack of interest too - I only had a brief look at it & it did look in lovely condition,
The buyer was in Switzerland ...

That’s what I heard too - I think Harry M featured it in his promotion vid too - either all the usual dealers were sunning themselves or the market is very soft at the mo’…..

I don't think that Iconic marketed many of the cars as well as they usually do (certainly felt that about my Elite) - they concentrated their efforts on the 'Fast Fords' & other more modern machinery, although to be fair, that's where the buyers' interest seems to be most prevalent ...

Agreed, they sold my low km RS N/GT in 2016 at Salon Prive and I was inundated with calls from all over the place and at least three of those drove the bidding, I was very happy with the service tbh.

The Ford Scene is certainly alive and kicking. In the auto jumble hall it felt like every other stall was Ford parts.Lightweight_911 wrote:.

It’s cheap but as a start it’s got wrong rear slam panel ( has a post mid 73 one ) .
Discussing the market with friends the other day and on collecting cars a boxster spyder went for what I’d say was £10k under market.
I think the market for nearly all cars is on its arse … which could mean there will be some deals to be had looking ahead for those of us interested in the cars themselves rather than ‘ investments’

Re: Very cheap early 911 or am I missing something?
That was a bit up on miles, 50k I think, and made £30k. I’d say that’s maybe £3k down from where I’d have expected at auction. It’s probably a £38k car from a dealer.
Lots of stuff is slipping temptingly, but really only back to where it ought to be. A 2-3 year or GR Yaris only looks ok at £26k because it was £30k a couple of months ago. Really, with 200 for sale, it ought to be heading towards £20k.

Looks to have one of those white plastic 3D printed fan blades.
Wood dash on a 66?

Re: Very cheap early 911 or am I missing something?
Still looks a nice car even if some (big) details are wrong?
A few years ago this would have a 1 in front of the price??
However, imho the past few year's prices are melting away quickly and maybe to a better true level, but a car is worth what someone is willing to pay in the end.
I thought your Lotus was a keeper Andy, but look forward to the next one.

'Keeper' isn't a word in my vocabulary - I don't get sentimentally attached to any car (or any other possession).911hillclimber wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 4:50 pm

Mind you, somehow, I've managed to keep my Giulietta Sprint for almost 15 years - don't know how that's happened !!

£67500 incl fees. Cheap but panel fit looks a bit off...shiny paint may hide some issues? It was for sale at Tom Hartley for a while. Market for early cars has certainly slipped back it seems.
