what are these MFI pump bracket holes used for?

Post by deano »

I'm just getting ready to re-install my rear cradle mounted MFI fuel pump. Anyone know if the two holes on the side of the narrow bracket shown as #3 in the pic are for please, or unused?

I vaguely recall there being a rather rusty banjo, or two?, trying to hold the fuel pump to the narrow bracket...(the bracket then sits in the cradle adjacent to the rear left wheel, held at both ends by rubber shocks #6)

Thank you! :bounce:

Has been a VERY long time since I looked at that bracket, but I think it is to allow road water to drain from the bracket 'bowl' shape which otherwise would fill and rot the bracket out.
As ever, stand to be corrected.
Could also be to thread the open clip through before joining to the screw body after the pump is slid into place?

Thanks for your thoughts.

The holes are on the side, so most likely not drain holes, and the holes are definitely not big enough for the Jubilee clips (about 7 mm dia).

I suspect that the holes might not have been used. Hopefully, someone might recall for certain.. :compress:

Are there any dimples on the pump body that may locate into the hole so to fix it's orientation?
