Size difference between 911 & 964 Windscreen

Hi,

I am really struggling to fit my 911 front windscreen - cannot pull the rubber entirely over the inner metal lip ... I have fitted 911 windscreens quite a few times previously hence wondering why isnt it working. An experienced fitter has also come up with the same issue on this car/windscreen . I have tried 2 Porsche dealer supplied seals, so thats not the issue.

I'm starting to wonder if the incorrect windscreen was supplied (new windscreen sourced prior to issues) i.e a 964 windscreen as opposed to 911. Is there any difference, and if so, how do I check this? (aftermarket windscreen so no part numbers)

Many thanks

.
From memory, the 964 windscreen is slightly bigger than an earlier screen & can only be fitted to a pre-89 911 by utilising the 964 rubber seal (which doesn't utilise an alloy insert) ...

I might have a note of the dimensions somewhere - will have a search.

Andy is correct, the 964 screen is slightly bigger but will fit with a 964 screen rubber.

Yep, I have a heated 964 screen in my '79 SC (using the 964 seal without any of the original filler pieces)

Thank you all for the responses - I'll weigh up either ordering a 964 seal versus another windscreen to make sure a have the appropriate one

A 964 windscreen normally has a black band across the bottom and will have a radio aerial

Not always if it’s not Porsche (mine has no aerial- it’s heated)
