There is always one somewhere
I have seen this weave in VW's etc and 356's, and quite like the idea of changing out the 35 year old carpet in my 911 to something 'fresh'.
Being a lazy type I hope someone can tell me the name of this weave and even where to get it from.

As to the detail, quite agree, and do not see the point of the telegraph pole for the hydraulic hand brake, door cards look like the Japanese flag design.

You're probably thinking of 'German square weave' carpet - like these samples:



Usually sold as pre-cut carpet sets from suppliers like Autos International in the US.

It may be available by the metre from someone like World Upholstery but would be expensive - not aware of UK suppliers

You could ask Garry Hall if he knows of any UK outlets - but may be a trade secret ...

I thought the overall look was the weave ran in lines, but a great starting point.

My carpet set bought in 1989 was £25...
Might find out more at the NEC in November.

Not exactly the same stuff, but this is what I used, and no it’s not cheap

Wife not too impressed with the idea, rather spend the £££ on a good few days out in the 911 as it is!
That would be a £1000 when all is done plus me sticking it all in.

Going back a few years now, but didn't Tuthil's build Chris Harris a 911 'resto mod', I seem to recall him wiping around in a green, wide arched, long bonnet car they built..?

I’ve been lucky enough to see this car close up over the last few months. As impressive as the awesome performance is the custom car like quality of the build. Under the engine cover and in the boot it’s so clean - there are none off the ancillaries that are visible in my car. So clean, and a joy to behold. It would make a great subject for a proper photo shoot and magazine article, if it hasn’t already happened.

The bottom line is that Tuthills built this to the customer’s spec. It’s his choices of trim, colours and, yes, even the length of the hydraulic handbrake lever. The man who pays the piper calls the tune.

Mechanically I think it’s fabulous, the style is that of the owner, and who am I to differ

This car is quite important IMHO. Its raised the stakes a fair bit

And as the car could easily blend into any line up at a Porsche do ....It does it all without shouting
I really like that.
Trim colours a bit marmite but if you signing the Cheque you get the last say!

Is it wrong that I want to take it all apart to see how they did that trick stuff, and not even for financial gain, I just want to know lol
especially the 6speed box... like it a lot.

Reverse swapped out for or 6th is easy enough to estimate but the reversing mech puzzles me a bit.
By buddies Caterham has reverse mech with a lever but thats a separate box. Thats stuck in my head so cant figure this atm
Any one have an idea about this modification?
Was there a factory racer with 915 based 6 speed set up?
