Positive Heads-Up for parts supplier

Post by 911hillclimber »

Blew the clutch on my hillclimb Lola-Porsche at Shelsley Walsh on Saturday last.
There had been a few 'warnings' from the clutch this year, so not too surprised.
I have another major meeting 26/27 Aug so obviously needed a new clutch.
Quickly.
Looking round all the usual suppliers was not inspiring, I wanted to replace the driven plate/cover plate and thrust bearing...I don't know yet what let go, will do this Thursday.
Found heavy duty Sachs driven plates for £330, aluminium covers for the £300 etc so silly money.

Then happend across a supplier I've never heard of before, FRAZERPART up in the Wirral, Merseyside. www.frazerpart.com
They had a 3 piece clutch set, HD for £375.94 delivered to my garage.

Thinking this too good to be true i emailed them via ebay and they confirmed on Monday at 8.30 am they had one, and if I ordered it before 10am I should get it the following day, ie today.

Paid the bill and exactly 24 hours later the clutch arrived, a real Sachs 3 piece aluminium cover HD assembly.

I thought as it is all good news I'd pass this on to you all who may be interested. :)

Excellent news Graham.
I had wondered why you hadn't posted a report from the meeting.
Good luck with the swap.
Now Porsche less and sad.

Bought my HD clutch from Max at Frazerpart when Mike Bainbridge was rebuilding and engine and gearbox, cheapest place around and fast service.
I remembered I'd bought the same clutch before when MB was rebuilding the gearbox on the 3.2 backdate a good 12 years ago.
Another thumbs up for Max.
