FWIW I disagree, put a rennshift in my car on its 901 box, makes finding gears 10x easier even with new bushes, much less chance of money shifting. Fail to see how they put more strain on anything. Moving the pivot point up would give you less leverage in your arm i.e. more strain on you, not the car...? it will take the same amount of force through the bushes/rods to move the shift forks regardless of the pivot position. The ultimate shift bushing and the aftermarket shift joints are also well worth the money IMO

WEVO gate shift is not the same as a shifter or short shift mod.
Indeed it is at the other end of the linkage, located within the gearbox.
It is a gated guide plate which provides a clearly designated shift pattern in lieu of the original wobbly and imprecise fork arrangement.
Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it

Thanks all again,

I am going through the gear linkage and there is definitely play in the bushes at the back which I can sort out so we'll see how that goes.

Thanks for the horn suggestion, I think its fixed - as suggested, the horn ring is a little less flat than it should and maybe the plunger a bit long so have shortened that a little and it seems to be fixed!

Will let you know how I progress on the horn - rev counter off to Hans Peters in Holland as it seems to be just reading wrong!

Worth also checking/replacing the plastic cup that receives the ball at the bottom of the gear stick.
With all linkage bushes in good shape and setup as per the manual, the 901 shifts absolutely fine.

Congratulations on bringing your car to life  .

The early BSA .22 Hornet rifle bolt was nothing to write home about.

I was thinking more Lee Enfield .303 to be honest :)

The WEVO internal shift gate above is expensive, mine was about £2K fitted!

It was installed by Greatworth Classics so Angus should be called first before you buy I suggest.

I have driven a 911.915 rally car in anger with full WEVO kit, links etc and it WAS like a rifle, or should i compare it to a Subaru Sti 1996 box? imho not a bad benchmark.
I think my £2K could have been spent elsewhere.

Back at the end of 2013, gateshift kit including delivery was 926.34 Euro from Twinspark

915 pinion bearing retaining plate including was 299.84 Euro also from Twinspark

Then off on a day trip to the Sage of the Lakes:

Strip/ inspect gearbox
Repair 2nd gear dog teeth
Replace pinion bearings and flanged input shaft bearings
Fit WEVO gate shifty kit and WEVO clamp plate
Have cases cleaned and all studs replated
Replace both diff bearings and reset diff

Parts: £1335.52
Labour: £850
Total £2185.52

Collected 8th Feb 2014

New standard coupling and new bushes in original shifter and it is what I would imagine as good as, perhaps better than, new.

You pays your money and all that......
