Look out for the discussion of valet wafers in the glovebox and trunk locks.

If the 'valet' wafer/tumbler is only available as a #4, that implies that there must always be at least one #4 tumbler in every lock... strange because only one of my door handles had numbered tumblers and that one didn't have a #4 (though, there was a tumbler missing)

The HC code have 4 size tumbler and 10 cuts, it is more than 1 million combination but the HC code only have 2080 combination. We have keys without 4 and without 1 but always 3 and 2.

Do you have your Image
This is a HC0581 (Don’t have tumblers number 4) always 10 cut, you have 5 tumblers in one side and 5 more in the others side.

This video is one side key but from 1970 911 we have 2 side key.

Ahh, cuts in the key, that makes sense. 10 tumblers, 10 cuts. Thankyou.

I think the only mystery is which of the 4 size tumblers are available with the valet 'step' ?

Interesting, the valet tumbler seems to be very different to #2, and #3 and #1, as you can see from my picture.

I was assuming that the valet was #4.

I did not have any #4 in my door locks, so I have no real reference point.

I found some valet tumblers (with the 'step') in a spare glovebox lock, along with some tumblers that had the same dimensions as the valet tumbler, but without the 'step' (left side of my picture). I assumed that those must be valet #4, and normal #4 - you can see these in my photograph.

YES!! See again your photos. The master key (blank) use that part

And that part is a number 2. But when you use your red valet key you use the other parts and the key don’t work. Only the master open the glove box and the trunk. The ignition and door have the normal number 2 and the 2 keys work.
