Early car search……

Post by Ferdynine11 »

Hello all,

I thought I would put some feelers out to see if anyone can help with my search……..

Having just sold my 2.2E, I am on the lookout for something a tad fruiter as my next car.

I loved the E but now I want something better set up for fast road use, perhaps the odd track day, but something comfortable enough that I can use with the better half for a euro trip……

I am relatively open minded - the boxes that I would like to ideally tick are -

Preference is MFI
Early car
Good solid shell
Ideally non sunroof
RHD preferred
Open minded on colour

A few cars have sold at auction recently which would have fit the bill nicely but I wasn’t really comfortable buying at auction, one particular SWB car that ended up on Paul Stephens forecourt ticked a lot of the boxes.

All of the above for around £90k - so should be dead easy!

If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to reach out - perhaps a long shot but I can dream……

Thanks for reading.

Simon

This has great provenance, including with a well-known DDK member... Came from Don Ahearn in the US. OK, it's LHD but everyone knows that's better on an early car anyway. Great base for a build, or enjoy as is...

It’s an interesting tach on that car Keith. There is obviously a story to discover about the engine. The seats are nice but for that money I’d want the originals.
Not a bad looking car but it’s been around for a long time at WC and I’m intrigued to understand why. I see the price has been dropped a little too.

Regards
Mike

Thanks for the suggestion Keith - my thoughts echo Mike’s though WC do seem to offer some interesting cars, so I have been keeping a close eye on their site.

It had the original 'T' tacho in it when I sold it to BB at the end of 2006:

I don't know whether Brian had any work carried out on the engine - I don't think so though.

I've also been surprised that it hasn't sold (especially after removing the black bonnets stripes that Brian added) - it was a good car (certainly back when I had it).

Because the number stamp doesn’t look original, you mean?

No Sam, I only got as far as the tach. Andy has confirmed above that it’s been changed along the way for some reason.
The engine number stamp seems to be compromised by a shadow. I’d need a better pic to be sure. The numbers look to be the correct font and is that a faint star I see at the far end ? Can’t be 100% sure from that one pic.

Evening all,

I thought I’d update my last post and send a reminder out, after two unsuccessful attempts at buying my next early 911 - I’m still looking!

The main focus remains the same, a car ideal for fast road use and the odd euro tour I’d rather buy something that’s done with a good, sound body/chassis.

- I’ve decided to increase my budget and the range is now between £90k - £115k, in hope that opens up a few more options

- Still looking for an early, pre impact coupe

- Would consider a hot rod/RS or ST replica

- Would also contemplate a SWB car too if it had a Sports Purpose feel (bid ask I know)

- Open to either LHD or RHD and open on colour.

- If anyone knows of a car that’s coming up please feel free to share my number 07904 452210 or make an introduction - I’d prefer to buy privately if possible, but that’s not essential.

Many thanks for taking the time to read the update.

Best,

Simon

http://www.ddk-online.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=71348 I know this is a well sorted car and has been maintained to highest order. Seller is a great guy and easy to work with if a deal could be struck.
