DDK is 20 this year !!!

Post by hot66 »

Seems to have gone under the radar slightly .. but its DDK's 20th year  .. James' post on the CLM thread made me realise

20years since a random group of people got together and a forum / group was created for what was at the time ' just old Porsches' according to PCGB

DDK .. not a club as such, but somewhere for pre73 porsche fans to hang and meet . All these years later and we're all still having meet up s / drives / trips etc and sharing the love .

I think its time for a t-shirt & or sticker .. especially on the back of 100 years of LeMans and another DDK CLM trip looming.

Anyone good at designing and producing ?

In the spirit of this 20 year thread .. lets have some photos of great moments from 2003 -2023

As a relative latecomer it'd be good to secure the lagacy of the founding DDK Faces with an origin story. Before memories become too hazy...
maverick
noun
1. an unorthodox or independent-minded person.
2. an unbranded calf or yearling.
Origin mid 19th century: from the name of Samuel A. Maverick (1803–70), a Texas rancher who did not brand his cattle.

Well done for bringing this to the fore James - we do indeed turn 20 in early November of this year.

Apologies for the lack of content and ideas for our 20th celebration - life has been taking over my Porsche-based enjoyment of late but yes, we need to mark it!

We had a wonderful thread sharing our memories of the first 10 years. Have a read. They'll be some missing images and broken links but it will give you a flavour of back then viewtopic.php?t=45641

We also made sure that we marked the occasion of the 10th anniversary by raising £10,000 in that year and have continued to raise money - our Just Giving Page is just under £37K now! https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ddk10kfor10years

Plus with other karting and giveaway cars (remember those) initiatives we raised in excess of £60,000 which is just wonderful.

I have an idea for a member participation activity which will not only create wonderful content, mark our 20 years in style, include members all over the country and hopefully raise some more money for charity - I have the embryonic bits sorted but need to do a little more work but will launch it soon. I think you'll all enjoy it. I hope so and it would be great to see you all getting involved.

And yes, a T shirt needs to be sorted, will get back on the case with that one.

I still have the black T Shirt, too tight a fit now, cotton shrinks so much...

I was introduced to DDK by Matt Powell many years ago, but I 'joined', in early 2008, have my membership card # 0541

Matt still has his jet black '71T

I believe I took this picture in 2005 and I always wondered where this unique colour 911 ended up. I was looking for early DDK pictures from 2003-5 to mark James’s great idea of 20th anniversary memories and I haven’t looked over the pictures for years. To my surprise I see the 914/6 in the background that I now own!!! So 20 years comes full circle.
