Hi
Rev counter needle on my 71 911T flips from side to side when running - anyone recommend someone who fixes them ? I’ve heard of a company in Poland but was wondering if there is anybody in the UK who does this.
Thanks
Jim

Julian Reap (Reap automotive) did all my guages. I think he has quite a backlog, but did a great job.

Worth checking the ignition basics 1st, points gap etc as this can lead to erratic tachometer. But you’ve probably done this already…

As part of my restoration, i had all my gauges rebuilt by a REputAble Person in the gauge resto business. It took 12 months and only after a considerable amount of regular calling did i get them back. I fitted them and within 1 month, the Rev counter was doing what you say above. I called REputAble Person and his answer was effectively 'well its 50 years old, what do you expect'.
I sent it to Hans Peters in the netherlands. Not cheap but done properly. Been in the car for a number of years and remains running nicely. Hans P is the man!

I used Hans for my speedo which was bouncing a bit at around 30mph. He did a good job and was pretty quick. Fwiw, Reap focuses more on cosmetic work and sends repair work to Hans anyway.

I agree with this.
Check the points gap first.

This can be the speedo cable sticking as it goes round a number of tight bends on its way to the dash, it winds up then pings back and flicks the needle. Worth trying that first? Although it’s a right pain to change

Wise idea from Gary. I knew mine had a problem since we fitted a new speedo cable.

Agreed..the main problem is the mileage indicator which is sometimes and usually but not always stuck……so I need to get that done..as the engine has been re-built I want to get it re-set as well
