Out in the drizzle today to get my LED head lamps aligned (done for free!)

The wipers have always been weak, and irritating the T only came with 2 speed wipers, no intermittent.
Going to Google after this, but anyone fitted a simple to install kit to give me an intermittent position?

The switch has only 3 positions, OFF and the 2 speeds, it is blocked from going downwards.

Are all the wiper motors the same on T,E,S?
My wipers park on the driver's side (RHD car) if that has any bearing on this question's answer.

On from this, anyone have a solution to remove the coating of grime on my nice new screen?
Read super fine steel wool is very good.

no intermittent on my 1973 car either

My car, an earlier car than yours, Graham, is also without an 'intermittent'.

But the wipers operate at three speeds.

My 1972 S has 3 speed wipers (and I had to use most of them at times during the weekend at Wiscombe!) but no intermittent wipe, it wasn't available back then.

I tried cleaning a windscreen once with a nylon pot scrub, and thought I had done a wonderful job - until the first time after that I took it out in the dark, then it was a horrendous spider's web of glistening scratch marks in every set of oncoming headlamps ...........
So - no, I wouldn't go anywhere near your screen with wire wool, just a good quality glass cleaner, a soft cloth and plenty of elbow grease!

It was on and off every 10 seconds or so on the way back from the garage today, fill first speed wipe gave the usual chatter.

The blades are not old, just rarely used.
Are any 73 year 911's fitted with intermittent speed?

We missed all the rain Jonathan at Prescott, but a torrential downpour occurred right when the meeting closed after the run-off, and when putting the car on the trailer. The trailer park was a mess to say the least.
There were even ducks splattering about in the rain and deep mud finding all the churned-up worms.

Replace the wiper relay and then 1st speed on my wiper switch position becomes the intermittent, and the 2nd high speed become continuous low speed?
My switch only has 3 positions, off, 1 and 2.

Pretty sure you keep speeds 1 and 2. An additional toggle switch would be added to provide the intermittent wipe when the main wiper stalk is 'OFF'.

This is basically the same as how the later 911s delay wipe works - e.g. when in the 'OFF' position.

That would be effective and make the car less tedious in drizzle rain.

My 70T has intermittent wipers. I believe thy discontinued intermittent as it unreliable. However, it works fine on my car. The parking side can easily be changed (check out the Wayne Dempsey 101 projects for the Porsche 911). However, they should park on the drivers side. It was done that way to clear the windscreen for the driver first.

Interesting. I have a pull switch on the dashboard for the rear wiper that I am not using since we didn’t reinstall the rear wiper set. This could be a suitable switch for the intermittent function.

Yep, that's the hole I'll be using for the button switch probably.
Would have liked a switch much closer to the wipers, but will see.

Relay arrived this morning, and the latching switch is on order/awaited.
Looking at the circuit diagram terminal 5 on the relay has to be connected to the 'wiper motor switched earth terminal'.

Before I take things apart, anyone guide me to the whereabouts of said terminal?
Is it on the wiper motor or the steering column switch or lurking elsewhere?

Today I took the blower housing out of the car to expose the wiper motor.
In doing so the 5 wires to the motor are quite easy to see and identify by colour.

However, I am not sure of one connection and where it might go to the motor from the new relay.

The relay has 5 terminals, only 4 are used.
one pin goes to the motor then to ground. but which wire is that on the wiper?
2nd goes to the dash switch and then body ground.
3rd gets 12V via a 2 amp fuse.

The 4th one is the unknown and where I need some help please if anyone knows.

According to 12V Planet (relay supplier) this terminal goes to "wiper motor's switched earth terminal"

I think I will have to piggy-back the new relay wire to one of the 4 existing motor wires, BUT WHICH ONE?
Can anyone help please?
