Realise it’s been a very long time since I’ve posted as I seem to be absorbed into this E-type Jaguar world, but I still do you have the 911 and yesterday morning was another blisteringly wonderful experience sampling the Roads of Surrey

Once in a while, when I actually pay attention to the maintenance of this car, I do find myself thinking what would happen if I got a puncture, as the SpaceSaver tire I have is the original one, so dated ….1974, if I was to actually need to use it..

Does anybody know where you buy replacements for these tyres…?

Good to hear from you, hope you are keeping well. I often think the same and did try and find a suitable space saver replacement tyre a while back without any luck. I have now accepted that I would just get the car recovered in the event of a puncture. A better option would be a full size tyre but I think it’s a tight fit with a big tank.

Hey…how are you…..thing is we’re off to the Alps in May…so I need a better solution….sounds like they are NLA..?…in which case I would buy another Fuchs wheel and hopefully be able to tuck it into place..?

Jonathan - it might be worth checking with your OPC as I seem to remember hearing that someone had ordered a new collapsible space saver tyre (original Vredestein) a couple of years ago - came from Germany apparently.

The other option would be to ask someone like Longstone Tyres ...

Right then chaps…..an update

Logstone Tyres….no.. there once was a supply of these tyres as you point out Andy but they are no longer

Porsche Guildford…..no…. all they can supply is the metal in a part of the wheel, but not the rubber… The only space saver they have is a complete unit. I gather is from 9 to 8 vintage so I have no idea whether the centre to centre dimensions of the studs is correct for an early 911

So… I did a quick test, my rear 8 inch. Fuchs are just a smidge too wide to fit under the Bonnet, but the 7 inch front Fuchs will fit… So I guess if I was being sensible, I would then be putting out a request for a 15“ x 7“ fuchs wheel with or without any rubber on it, condition of the Fuchs not especially important as it’s a spare.

Good to know nothing has changed. You would probably also be able to get away with a 6" spare for emergency use? My space saver tyre is actually mounted on a 6J x 15 flat six Fuchs wheel. putting a proper tyre on it would take up a lot of boot space though!

As there is an Alps trip planned soon I really want to have a proper spare…and as it’s just me going….using hotels it’s no big deal to loose that space…plus I will remove the original space saver…so it almost cancels itself out….(man maths at play there for sure… )

Hopefully someone will have a wheel for sale…..

Could put a 6” inch in there? You’ve already got a 50% chance of it being the wrong size so why not go full out and save some more space, maybe also easier to come by?

Also if you are carrying one we can all borrow it
