A 911 for a serious enthusiast or collector; it ticks every box.

911s of this era will be found in a variety of states. Most will have been restored from rusty relics, but judging the quality of that restoration and what genuinely lies beneath the shiny surface is not easy. A completely restored 911 will always be in competition with all other completely restored examples……
This car is very different. Throughout its life it has been lightly used and cared for without compromise. It has never been a laid up project.
Supplied in August 1973, this must have been one of the very last of the F series. Only 105 RDH coupe were made in 1973, how many remain is unclear.
It has changed hands just 7 times, covering very few miles each year, but religiously serviced and any small issues dealt with immediately.
In 2014, this 911 underwent a sympathetic refresh with an expert in Porsche, Jon Miller of Classic Carrera in County Limerick. Stripped back to bare metal, very little corrosion was found – in fact, Mr Miller claimed it to be the very best F series RHD he had ever seen. The engine was removed for a rebuild and the bodywork was meticulously prepared and repainted in its original colour of light yellow (6262). Every seal, gasket and rubber was replaced with new, whilst all the good condition glass, trim and upholstery was reinstalled to keep the originality and patina.
During this time, the engine received a complete rebuild. Modern good practice was applied; the cases were sent to Redtek Porsche Engineers for shuffle pinning, line honing the journals and time-certing the cases – these are steps that many would overlook. The motor was carefully reassembled and has since proven itself well.
Driving it is an absolute pleasure. The Mechanical Fuel Injection is set up perfectly, it’s responsive and the performance is strong. It shifts through the 5 speed 915 gearbox superbly, handles, steers and stops exactly as it should.
Every single process and part of this 2-year overhaul is documented with invoices, accompanied by photographs taken at each stage, all of which are included in the history files.
The patina is what separates this 911 from others…any can be made shiny and looking new. What is ultra rare and impossible to reproduce is the seamless history and the patina of 50 years of care and gentle use. An example might be the Fuchs wheels, these are the original, with the correct date stamp. They show some fading to the black centres, and the silver anodising is a little less shiny than when you refurbish a wheel, but they have survived 50 years in this fine condition, so why would you refurbish? We wouldn’t.
The front seats however, have been recently rejuvenated, and look fabulous in their original spec black leatherette with corduroy inserts. Under the lush, new Coco Mats you will find the original salt and pepper carpets. They have a little wear under the driver’s heal, but overall are in excellent condition. New ones are not expensive, but the weave is slightly different, and look new.
The same can be applied to many features on this car. From the cardboard shield around the battery, the bonnet badge, through to the second key and the spares fuses given when new. Details like this can never be reproduced.
The result is an unusual 911. All the above is what makes this stand out from its fully restored counterparts. It looks and drives how it should, how it did when it left the factory.
The provenance is exceptional and the extensive history is far too comprehensive to list here. Suffice to say, there is a large, well organised folder that takes you through everything from its first service at 545 miles through to the present day.
