LED dash/gauge lights

The dash gauge lights are bit crap on my car so I was thinking of changing them over to LED.

Did a bit of searching but can't see anything specific to the gauge bulbs/lamps.

Anyone got any experience of this and are these the correct items?

Thanks, Ralph.

Gary converted his now viper green 911.
Mine are rubbish too, so interested in what you do and the result.

I just ordered a blue one. I had my dials restored and I think there should have been a blue cover for full beam, but was presumably missed. This is an easy alternative to sending them back. However, I have a couple of boxes of the originals, so will leave the rest as they are.

Bulbs should be BA7S 12V

Something similar to these, which gives you an idea what to look for.

They also come in different colours on searches on the net, a lot on DDK have used this company before

.

That's the same link as in Ralph's original post ...

I haven't done this job on a 911 but changed all gauge lighting - including the coloured warning lights - on my Giulietta Sprint to LED's & it made a huge improvement.

I bought a set from fleabay & they were rubbish. I bought a set from ClassicCarLEDs https://www.classiccarleds.co.uk/produc ... 9086756973 in warm white & they are much better

A straightforward swap Graham - the only exception can be the indicator w/light(s) which, in some cars, can be sensitive to the type of flasher unit - & whether the indicator lamp bulbs themselves have been changed to LED's - (the LED's obviously draw less current). In this case the flasher unit itself needs to be swapped to a more modern version compatible with LED's ...

I think that I'll try a set of those that Peter has.

I presume that this just covers the illumination and not the warning lamps as it does say not to use LED on the ignition and alternator warning lights - similar to what Andy is saying about the flashers.

I bought the ones from ClassicCarLEDs and they have been fine. Remember to buy coloured ones for the warning lights. Like Andy I didn’t change the indicator warning lights and one other (may have been the flashing handbrake light). Some say that the spread of light for the background lighting isn’t as good as normal bulbs but it looks fine to me. I also changed the festoon bulbs in the dome lights to LED since they run cooler and these have been good too.

Kind regards
Gitesh

Classic LEDs supplied my dash bulbs and I’m very happy. Got two sets, one warm white for the 72S and bright white for the
73 ST/R.

I've ordered some warm white.

Subsequent to my initial post the lights have gone out on the tacho so I would have had to sort that anyway.

I found the high beam blue as an LED was too bright at night and swapped it back for a normal bulb

I installed my blue one today. Its certainly very bright and I've not had a chance to drive my car in the dark yet, but I think I'll keep it as is as I certainly won't forget full beam is on!

Installed my LEDs today and it certainly looks a lot brighter. I only upgraded the illumination and not any of the warning lights - I may revisit this though.
