Morning all

I know this should strictly be another thread (and perhaps it should be moved) - has anybody got any insights into fitting this (which i think should be very easy as i understand re-adjustment of shift components not necessary) and perhaps more importantly any feedback on post-installation success/difference?

I'm needing a positive energy "bump" to get my sleeves rolled up!

I just did the install last week and it was very easy. It is a precise fit and as expected, delivers noticeably improved lateral guidance to the shifter rod.
The changes made to my 1972 were even bigger as I finally changed to the 1973- shifter, combined with the Karsten Spring (as many probably know). This took 915 shifting to another level, day-and-night difference!

Installed this afternoon. As suggested this is easy to do and the only mild pain the grub screw that holds the cup. I ended up using a 4mm hex bit and a spanner. Interestingly the shape of my bracket seems a little diff, it has a zigzag pattern on the edge and fitting the new bush required mild force. Also because of the zigzag the c clip isn’t sitting as deep as it should. However it is not really required as the bush sits very tight.

Shifting feel is improved across the range and it was a worthwhile change. Thanks again for arranging.

I installed my shift rod bearing a few weeks ago. Despite lots of lubrication the shifting was a lot stiffer than the bearing I replaced. Also I found that i was no longer able to engage second gear despite many attempts to adjust the linkage at the rear of the shaft. I also replaced the original Porsche linkage with an 'OEM Match' version at the same time. That went in the bin within a few mins as it was not a match for the original. I put the original linkage back in but perservered with the shift bearing.

I took my car into Carerra Performance in Horsham yesterday. Jez replaced the shift bearing with a Porsche original one, adjusted the linkage and my shifting was transformed.

Sorry to be a nay sayer, but this didn't work for me. I have a lightly used bearing if anyone would like one.

I believe two things transform the shifting

1. Rebuilding the gearbox
2. Good adjustment of the rear linkage

The German spring is a great addition for predictability, though it has no impact on the actual shifting.

Other things make a small to no difference.

This bush may make a small difference but nothing more.
