Contacting Julian Reap

Post by MonkeyChap »

Hi

Does anyone know the best way to get hold of him ? I've sent regular e-mails and left voicemails...nothing. I've gone and taken all the instruments out of the car now too.

Otherwise, is there anyone else who can do instrument refurb/backdates ?

Don’t bother with REAP, you’ll be waiting forever just to get a reply, let alone your gauges back if you were to send them to him.

These guys are arguably the best in the business:

But this guy might be worth considering too:

I’ve had similar experiences with REAP , really slow turnaround ( say six months IIRC ?).

I had a chat with Reap and he said he has lots of work on, minimum 6 month wait for dials to be looked at.

I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

Julian does a lot of work for Porsche and their dealers, so I guess that's his (rather profitable) bread and butter work...

Thanks all - I'll take a look at the others. Sending them out to Hollywood might be a bit pricey though !

I used Reap a few years ago but have heard good things about Classicautoclock.

In the interests of balance:

I contacted Julian a summer or two ago about my odometer gear failure. He returned my voicemail within a day or two, and we agreed a date/time for me to bring my car to him during the following week. As planned, I turned up, waited whilst he took the unit out of the car, replaced the failed gear, bench tested everything, and refitted. Had a nice chat, too.

He's a great guy - evidently busy with speedo/odometer work from many reputable UK independent specialists as well as Porsche GB too.

My experience with Julian was positive to.

Like all shops who are involved with restoring parts or cars the good ones are not immediately available.......

And they give a 1 year warranty! Bought my JDO-refurbished 250 km/h speedo from Brian Goff and was very impressed by the quality of their work.
