Sunday was a lovely day (at least it was down South) so we thought lets take the 911 out for a run. We ended up at the Sun PH at Dunsfold for a few glasses of grape and some nosebag. We were parked outside and after a while a new 911 (I'm lost with all the new numbering, but it was a new one) snuck in in front of ours. Now I hadn't had too much Rioja but this new 911, it was a cabriolet, made our 911 which is a wide body I should mention, look absolutely tiny, Dinkyesque in fact. These new 911's are just huge and vast. I suppose they have to be to pack all the gizmos and tech inside but side by side I never realised how boat-like these new machines are. That's all I want to say, I'm back to the garage now.

They are monsters when you see them in context with an early car

I remember a few years back when I was looking to buy an air cooled 911. There was one at the main dealer in Leeds that we went to see, compared with the modern stuff it looked tiny.

Like seeing an original Mini compered with the largest of the BMW ones.

I overtook a mk2 Cayenne the motorway only yesterday (flat out in our 19 year old Honda) and remarked to Mrs Sam that even that looks quite modest compared to the newer SUVs around it.
