I took my magnesium case to Canford Classics (Winterborne Kingston - Dorset) back in 2015 - not too far away from you.
At the time I was happy with the work and all reasonably priced.
Not sure what services they currently offer but I had the following work done to the case alone.

Supply and fit case savers to crankcase
Helicoil x 5 on crankcase
Crankcase Line honing
Head spigots refaced
Oil bypass mod

Regards
Andrew

Also took my 1970 case to Cranford Classics (I live in East Devon so not far). Had it shuffled pinned, case savers, piston squirters and oil bypass mod. This was a few years ago. Case savers are the preferred way instead of time serts.
Regards Stefan.

I emailed Canford classics as they had done my cylinder heads and cam housings but they said they are no longer doing any case machining for the foreseeable future which is a real shame to be honest so I’m just looking for another company who do great work

Probably too far for you but Sam at Greatworth Classics does exemplary case machining work.

I used that company for my case/head/rod machining when it was Paul Walker Engineering and the outcome was spot on.

Whoever you choose, ask if they machine in-house or send it out. You’ll only pay an additional markup if its sent out.

A lot of the big names and some mentioned send them out. I expect Neil Bainbridge do a lot of outsourced engine work, so I’d call Rob there.

Call bsmotorsport (neil bainbridge) and I’m sure Rob will answer. If not ask for him and he should be able to help.
Like I said, they do a lot of engine work for the various resto shops.
