1973 911T Seats?

A few years ago Gary loaned me his seats to try for a while.
They came from Mark Waring I think and were superb.

The 'subject' has come up again today on improvements to my 73T.

However, I see Cobre make a similar style of seat with all fitting kit for £1500 (Stuttgart style).

I have a nice set of period seats from Italy and an FIA race seat to come out/sell so that could take the sting out of the new ones.

Anyone have the Cobra seats?
The Rennsport ones I think will be very expensive.

Indeed they do and replicas of the originals, but will be v expensive.
I'll only get a permission at around £1500.

Originality is not important to me, Cobra are not too far away (to visit) and in fact I'm in their area next week.

If original is not a worry, why nit go for some second hand Tombstone seats from a later car?

I didn't express myself well.
I want to keep the classic look, not impact bumper onwards, hence the Cobra seats.
They have the look, the separate head restraints etc, but the recline and tilt mechanism are not authentic.

The seats you borrowed from me are the BF Torino ones (I think, it was a long time ago I bought them!!)

They are on the http://www.wwclassics.com site at £869 each

Appreciate 2x£869 is more than £1500 but it’s not an order of magnitude out to get what you actually want?

Thanks Gary.
VAT etc to add.
The Cobra ones have the seat mounts in the price, not sure about vat in their prices.

I read it wrong :)
It’s £756 each +vat so £1814 all in.

And they bolt straight in, no adapters needed

I don't see any BF Torino on the site.

Cobra advise they have no showroom, but I think Demon Tweeks are an outlet.
They say I can buy just one standard spec to fit and try.
Can keep and have the second or return the fist at my cost.

A tiny bit off topic, but for those people who might still have their 'soft spring' comfort seats stored away I came up with an easy solution to fix the common soft seat spring issue and make mine perfectly usable again (after a deep clean and a few tiny vinyl repairs) - I removed the bottom pan and stuffed every spring with the same length reflex foam, cut with a bread knife. It worked a treat! Pics on my thread soon..

Sounds good :thumbleft:

BTW, I think Porsche AG have reintroduced new springs again, so you can buy new ones from your OPC.

Just to respond to the kind comment about the new springs option, because I thinks its really important for people who might consider that option to know. The seat pad is formed around the sides of the spring box and would be extremely tricky to remove without destroying the seat pad, so new seat pads would most likely be needed too (new foam ones are available, at a price). On the other hand, the reflex foam blocks can be slid inside the original springs from the bottom, without removing or damaging the seat pad. I suspect that the foam would be the best DIY solution by a long shot, is trivial to do, maybe twenty times cheaper, maintains originality, and I think it also emulates the firmness and comfort of a modern car seat in the end. Just my thoughts :cyclopsani:
