Moving away from Porsche

Post by hot66 »

My dream car … wonder if they will px my cars ? Surely won’t need much more £ on top ?

Seriously though, I love this era of Ferrari. Would have this tomorrow if the euro millions came in

Moving away from Porsche

Absolutely agree. 275 GTB, 250 SWB, Cali Spyder, Lusso, Columbo V12, Nardi rims Borrani wires, open gate and large polished alu knob, it’s all mesmerising stuff…

Me and you both James. I had a look at a few options about 4 years ago and nearly took the plunge with one of the GTO Engineering "Revival" cars. Still a lot of money but a fraction of the originals obviously. It was fabulous to drive and a real event. I think the main issue for me would be drivability / useability and I think an early 911 is in a different league in those departments. Would have been great and probably free motoring as the prices have gone up quite a bit since then. I ended up getting an Alfaholics prepared GTV which was my idea of a cut price 330 GTC. Not as far fetched as it sounds and a nice early Alfa will give you a taste for a far smaller budget.

Yep! Nice paint. Here's your car waiting patiently in the background, Gary...

As an aside, I have an O'Rourke interior in the 356 (previous owner is a friend of the boss of that business). Also nice.

That's a co-incidence Richard, I was in Rudgwick last weekend and bumped into Rourkey and he gave me a tour of his workshop. Fabulous work and such a lovely guy. He had some serious metal in there too.

For many years they were regarded as one of the less desirable models - to the extent that many were 'cannibalised' & their parts used to build 250 GT SWB & GTO replicas - but in more recent years (with far fewer remaining) they have gained more favour ...
