1972 LHD 2.4S

Post by Gary71 »

https://www.carandclassic.com/auctions/ ... lhd-gOz0p8

Already at £120k.

Now my car is a long way from original, so this is a bit hypocritical, but there are a few warning signs as to the care of the repaint. No mention of paint or body restoration and some of the underside photos are eye opening to anyone that knows what to look for.

Tapatalk is having a cow and won’t let me load pictures, but the horn grilles are just one thing, find the photo of the door shut with the paint code… never mind the painted blue rot under the torsion bar

That does look a bit like a restoration project dressed up as a finished car. Wonder if it's straight?

To be honest that’s why I flagged it, don’t like putting down others cars, but those are big numbers for a car with minimum £40k of work sitting waiting for you.

Or maybe not and it’s good value :)

Two previous attempts to auction the car in 2015 and 2019 unsuccessful.
The interior is dire too. £40k may not be enough.

Mike

I’m a very trusting man so I don’t for a minute believe there’s anything untoward here, but bids straight up to £120k and then no bids in the last 6 days? That’s not how an auction usually goes.
