Tracking 911818 case for my rhd ‘67

Post by Silver911SC »

Hi all

I will be starting a resto thread on the sand beige rhd ‘67 I bought having sold my rhd ‘72 PARR race car to fund it.

However I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on where I might try and post/search for my missing engine case 911818. Currently I have someone elses 911951 case.

Any ideas of where I can look for the case. I know it’s a longshot but I do know others that have found theirs. I’m trying to get one of the sellers (a restoration shop) to put me in touch with a collector and long term owner of the car, but yet to surface a result on that.

For now, here is a photo of her as I bought her, and amazingly I also got hold of a photo of her with the first owner, and then a photo of her with her second owner…

(Never give up on digging around for history/parts)

Exciting project and wonderful period photos......trust you will be shopping for the obligatory coat.

Whilst it is based in the States the early911Sregistry.org has a thread for searching for lost engines etc....the forum has a sizeable European audience so you never know.

Interestingly this famous lhd rally spec car in the same colour was completed on the same day, only 33 chassis out, 12 gearboxes out and 31 engine cases out. Sadly for me, mine isn’t worth 1/4 of its price tag :)

This car…

Not related. The original owner can’t remember the guys name. I guess it was the late sixties and triple brown must have been the look :)

Yes, I did wonder if the buyer turned up in the same trousers and shoes, and arguably the same hair (just a bit older), so thought it would be funny if he posed with the seller jacket on, holding the same piece of paper.

So nice having these images. Although might make me feel slightly bad when I don’t reinstate the aerial in the photo :)

Here is a photo of that same original owner (Ray Cutler) sat in his race car in the 50s. It was his wife in that same photo who provided these photos of the sand beige 911 with him later in life, and the second owner.
