Sad news Tony Outridge has passed away.

Post by crisc204 »

Sad news.
Been told Tony Outridge has passed away.
Sorry do not have details nor details of any arrangements yet,
a mutual friend called to let us know earlier today, a non DDk'er.

I'm aware several of his friends in the trade would be on here, maybe aware/unaware of his illness and not yet know he passed.
I'm neither a close friend nor foe but for someone like Tony that was about on the classic Porsche scene for a while thought it would be proper that people in this sphere were informed.

If and when I know more, and indeed if I am directly asked to share anything else regarding arrangements I will post up.

Outrageous as some people called him ime for his pricing when selling vs pricing when buying will be missed.
Would still much rather be calling him various expletives and still getting the deals done than having to mark his passing.
I hope that is taken in the good spirit it was written

That's sad news.

I haven't seen Tony for a few years & I know he had more than his fair share of problems over the years, but he was very knowledgeable & another one of the 'old guard' who will no longer be around ...

Sad news indeed.

I first met Tony (as Porschons) over 30 years ago and he was a huge help to me when I was trying to source new and NOS for my 911 Targa restoration, all the little bits that were NLA or cost the earth from Porsche. He later went into Porsche restoration from a workshop in Kimpton Herts next to Bill McGrath Maserati. His knowledge of Porsche Part Numbers was verging on encyclopaedic and it was always useful if you bumped into him at a Husborne Crawley Auto Jumble if you needed to check whether a part was right for your car. In fact the last time I saw him was probably at the last HCAJ when I think he had gone into the restaurant business, although some time later we did have a telephone conversation about a 911 he was importing from Ireland so I guess he retained an interest!

RIP Tony

John

Tony built my RS Rep, I’m it’s 3rd owner. He was great when I made contact with him, in giving me the background to the car and the build and it’s initial history.

He made the replica seats in it and told me of how he’d been asked to evaluate a 2.7RS where the owner was very proud of its original seats. Tony didn’t tell him they were ones he’d built and put in that car few years earlier.

Sorry to hear of his passing
Cheers

Mike

Was asked to share details of the service for Tony by our friend who is handling the arrangements for his family.

Family have said anyone that wants to attend from the Porsche world is welcome.

Families chosen Charity details and details of the funeral reception to follow.
But as we have a date I thought it prudent to post that now.
