Ignatzcatz wrote:The subject of paying just to show your car annoys me somewhat as well but it is what we do because we own nice, rare and desirable motor cars and we love to show them off. I do have an excellent alternative which is my local classic car club - 'Sadcase' which is an acronym for Storrington and district classic and sportscar enthusiasts. There is NO annual membership fee, a basic committee, close on 2000 members and the statement of the club is if you like it then so do we. You can't say fairer than that and we have big meets throughout the year, twice monthly pub meets and amongst a few Morris Minors and such there are some stunning motor cars to check out which does make a nice change from 100% Porsches. However, I've paid me money and I will be at CatC so I'll see you all there.
Saw a great Porsche promo film with you and the 356 in last week Graham, I think it was with new Porsche poster boy Brock Keen going to his first Le Mans Classic.
Him ‘ How long have you been a Porsche Club member?’
You ‘Pfffffftttttt’
Can’t find the link to it now. I wasn’t dreaming was I?
No you weren’t Jeremy- I was there- see if you can find the link?

I’m looking I’m looking .. it was a porsche official vid. He visited the museum and was given a Taycan to go to Classic Le Mans. Post it if you find it first!

Got it

It’s called 996 roadtrip on YouTube (which it isn’t as he travels in a taycan from Zuffanhausen ) but It’s clearly Brock Keen who makes his films as 996roadtrip, but he now gets a Porsche logo on them..

You’ll see Graham’s few moments of fame - nicely shot.

Weather looks good & rain holding off until following day which is great !

I've even persuaded my wife to come, and it's our 20th wedding anniversary weekend so no small feat given she has zero interest in "hanging around guys in a field talking about cars all day".

She's never been to a car event before, and doesn't like any of my cars. However she does have a small & growing like for the older vintage Porsches - so hopefully the weather stays nice, she meets some "nice people", and it doesn't end in divorce after 20 years

I think you are taking your wife to the best Porsche day in the UK calender. Enjoy.

Love your 996 and the attention you are giving it. I am a convert. :)

Sarah, my wife, will be along with me, too. She also is a 'non-car person' but likes the early cars - CatC is the one Porsche event she comes to with me, as the location is so great, with the castle itself a spectacular 'must see', the grounds around the keep worth exploring. Whatever transpires, as far as your wife is concerned, her 20th anniversary will be memorable! ;)

Classics at the Castle

Post by matteo68 »

My wife, Caroline, is another non-car-but-quite-likes-early-Porsches type (her fave is a 356) so sounds like she’ll be in good company!

Is there an indoor cafe at the castle because she feels the cold easily and thinks standing around in a field in 16 degrees doesn’t sound like a whole lot of fun?

No indoor café I'm afraid, only outside vendors. Take extra jumpers... ;)

If all goes to plan I’ll be there again but in the daily …. Friday and Saturday I’m in the lakes for the Mark Dempster Memorial meet being held at the Lakeland motor museum, taking the yellow car for that , then blasting home and grabbing the daily for the boring run south to stay with a ddker 8)

Very much fancied going to this and take an overnight stay somewhere esp as the 911 is so sweet to drive now.
However, and always, these major events clash with the hillclimb calendar, so will be thrashing the living daylights out of the Lola at Loton close to Wales.

Weather looks idea for all of us, and I hope to see some good pics of your day!

I won't be at either unfortunately as we still seem to be Covid Central here............
I was looking forward to the end-of-term British Hillclimb bash at Loton, but had to withdraw as all of us went down with the dreaded virus.
I'll be glued to the live streaming on Sunday!!
Cheers!

Have you stolen Jeremy's car? He will find out, you know, if you post it on here...

I am really quite disappointed to be missing this one, but it's for good reason. First son is off to university for the first time, and compulsory arrival day for his accommodation is Sunday.

Have fun all, see you at something else.
