ignatzcatz's noo skoot

Post by Ignatzcatz »

Check out my new mosheen. This was an '81 evo custom softail and all I took from the original bike, which came from Italy of all places, was the 1340 engine and gearbox. Everything else has been custom made, that's frame, seat, guards, forks, friggin' totally hand finished in a Cole Foster, him of the SF Bay area, style. There's a few bits to be finished like the shocks are way too soft, still waiting for DVLA approval for my personalised reg number, air cleaner hasn't turned up from the States yet and it will need a long shake down run just to see that it all works as it should, but it won't be long before I'll be doing some serious profiling down the south coast sea fronts.

How did you get on with registering it? I presume you had to put it through MSVA?

Hi Keith, the bike is registered as an '81 Harley Davidson 1340 Evo softail custom with the old 'W' registration number. In order to swap the registration to a short personal number I have to get the bike MOT'd. Not a problem - I have friends, actually it is fairly legal, there's no indicators or belt guard but for '81 you don't need them. Once I get the new V5 I'm going to throw it back to the DVLA with a colour change, you can't try and do too much too soon with these people.
It's the same with my old hot rods, I only once had the authorities ask why a 1953 Ford Popular happened to have a five litre engine.
