Interesting ( or maybe not, depending on your viewpoint ) fact is that ROPS is a Volvo coined acronym ( along with SIPS, WHIPS etc. ) which they refused to let us use at Aston Martin, even when we were under the same owners i.e Ford. It actually referred to the deployable rollbar on C70 ( same part essentially is on 996 cab ) AND the structural strengthening ( boron steel I think) of the windscreen surround. Volvo's argument was that ROPS referred to a whole system comprising both the aforementioned elements and couldn't just be used for the fancy more visible part of it. I don't suppose the MSA were at all aware of this, or care!

Re: Factory steel roll bar
Indeed, doubt it came to mind.
There was a big issue with ROPS in motorsport about 5/6 years ago and lots of cars had to be cut open and larger tubes welded in and strength verified to the design.
Lots of time and money for many.
Very touchy subject still in the paddock.

I know Angus rates them very highly and I’ve seen the quality of their work on a full cage for a 914-6 at Greatworth.neilbardsley wrote:Anyone used Custom Cages in Daventry local to me?
