Colour of front number plate brackets

Post by fcd911 »

Hi

Just refinishing my front number plate brackets, expertly and accurately made for me by 911hillclimber many years ago. I was going to repaint them white but thought I should seek advice first – is the correct finish for 1973 front number plate brackets body colour or (possibly) black?

Thanks

John

Deafening silence John!
That was a very long time ago, 30 years?

You could call Canford Classics for advice?

I would paint them the white of the car.
See you Saturday if you are there.

I think the part number you're looking for is
90170105124 this is the fitting kit which includes brackets, screws rubber washers etc it's about £33 for the genuine from D911

There is a replica of this which looks to be the same for about half the money but it hasn't been in stock at D911 / Heritage / Stoddard in a quite some time.

Sorry, colour wise from what I remember they seem to have a mat metal finish. Will open them up at the workshop later on and take a picture

I guess these would be a UK dealer fit when new and if so the brackets would be zinc plated or similar so no colour
All new replica ones are plated like think

Excellent - thank you both for the help and the info. I like the plated finish so may go for a new set. The ones you made Graham succumbed to a tarmac encounter last year outside The Lion at Leintwardine (beware). The front wheels dropped into a (big) dip and the front number plate broke when it hit the rising (other) side of the dip, which also bent the brackets. Very lucky not to damage the bumper at all. Hence the need for the repaint (and a new number plate of course).
