Oil temperature sensor/sender/switch....help

Post by THE DISCIPLE »

Hi guys,

Looks like the temp sensor is down as the needle goes to full deflection on the key when cold so the switch is earthing.

I dont want to pay around £150 for a new one, does anyone know of a reproduction version or crossover part from another manufacturer that works. Mine is a SWB 1968 car.

Many thanks

Do you know the part number? If you do, then plugging it into autodoc will usually come up with the actual Bosch part in a Bosch box rather than a Porsche one.

Disconnect the wire from the sending unit to see if the "earthing" is occurring somewhere along its run and it is not the fault of the sending unit. If that test fails, a new unit may be the solution.
