URGENT Breakdown

Post by Dean.s »

I've just found a couple from germany that have had the inner cv joint fail on their 914.

Luckily there is an independent garage nearby.

Can someone tell me the part number or other model that has the same joint?

it is an early 2.0 model.

Not an expert but unfortunately I think they are tricky to source new. Typically sold as a new driveshaft set at some high price, if at all.

Maybe a 2nd hand part from a kindly ddker?

Update. The rescue let them down. They called me and i recovered them. they are staying at a hotel tonight. Their car is safe with me. There is a garage almost over the road from me that will hopefully sort them out tomorrow. If not and we can get a part sourced i can can fit it for them on saturday to help them get back home.

Worst case scenario i'll takee my driveshaft off and fit it to theirs to get them mobile again. I'll message Angus shortly.

Hi Dean. We can help. Easiest is to supply them a used driveshaft. Out in the post or get the car recovered to us. Office manager Amanda speaks German too if that helps?

We can also supply a new CV but we’ll need to machine it first.

Thanks for the info. I'll speak to them this morning and tell them the details and see what they want to do.

There are a couple of 914 owners on their way home tonight. relieved and incredibly grateful for the help given to them

A huge thank you to Angus at Greatworth classics and Simon at Redcastle classics because without these two the fix could not have happened. Two businesses that are well worth your custom.
