I went to investigate my problems this morning and the engine lid cable snapped!
Looks like a m5 rod end with about a 1.5mm diameter cable.
I can find a replacement online but they must be available
Unfortunately there is no length on the other side to solder and refit

Re: Help cable needed
Electrical chocolate block connector should do the trick, especially a 30 amp one which will fit over the metal bit, negating trying to attach anything to that little bit of cable left at the end.
You can cut off the unsightly plastic covering for it all once all connected up, so all you have showing are the brass connectors.

Re: Help cable needed
I called up this morning and bought 2. Might as well replace the front one too
