Tracing my car

Post by leewiffen »

I have a 1977 US Spec 911S recently imported from the USA.
I have some paperwork that details the three owners along with the COA.
However it would be nice to know which dealer it came from or how it arrived in the USA.
Am I right in saying up until 1984 when Porsche established a presence in the USA cars were either privately imported or imported by non accredited car dealerships ?
Any tips how I might find some more info?
Unfortunately the first owner has passed so no avenue their
I am trying to trace the second/ third owners who were neighbours

This list might give you an indication, presuming you know where the first owner(s) lived:

After I received a very basic COA for my USA 73 from Porsche around 1998, I pressed them for more information and they gave me the original selling (official) dealership as Frankfurt, which still exists. Of course, that dealership completely ignored my polite request for more information  I also had an 83 SC which was sold by the Pittsburgh Porsche Audi dealership

In case you haven't checked it should be stamped in the original owners manual.
My '74 was stamped with the dealership Porsche Audi Manhattan in June 1974.
1966 Porsche 912 Slate Grey, red interior - first owner owned for 41 years
