I know nothing of these really, but this might be good value if it’s in the lower part of the range I think? Andy?

.

Fairly meaningless (IMO) reserve.

I don't know that particular car but it looks like a reasonable example that needs a bit of TLC & usage but I would be surprised if it sells within that price range ...

Unusual but unique VW/Porsche rarity..but can’t but feel it would drive like a dog?

May be best to get into a roadworthy state but keep all the history/patina?

Interesting peice of history though and guaranteed to get all the attention at ( delete as necessary) shows/events / Sunday morning drive to get a pint of milk and a paper.

maverick
noun
1. an unorthodox or independent-minded person.
2. an unbranded calf or yearling.
Origin mid 19th century: from the name of Samuel A. Maverick (1803–70), a Texas rancher who did not brand his cattle.

Always gives me goosebumps when I see the WW2 aircraft flying..especially the Lancasters,Hurricanes and Spitfires…the sound of that Merlin engine :love9:

God knows what it will fetch and would like to think it will stay in the UK but in actuality IMO it’s genuinely priceless.

I live near Duxford and have met people who look after airworthy ones, take them to bits to ship them around the world for air shows, that sort of thing.

Listening to the work involved I suspect the purchase price is just the beginning.

I personally wouldn’t want one. Avro Vulcan or nothing.

The Vulcans used to regularly fly over our kneck of the woods when I was a kid as we lived near Avro Woodford..the noise of those engines as they banked is truly unforgettable..they took off over our house off en route to the Falklands as well. :notworthy:

It’s such a shame that the Vulcans like so much of our aircraft heritage are never going to be seen flying again and even Concorde to some degree. It doesn’t matter where you were you would always stop in your tracks and look up in awe when one flew over.

I know it’s all about safety, efficiency and money nowadays but air travel just doesn’t seem to excite anymore. It’s all a bit beige.

I took Pat to a couple of Farnboroughs as he was growing up, something I did with my dad (who worked latterly at Westland, but BAC before that). We were there for the last Vulcan visit....we wriggled as close as possible to the runway between the grandstands, as it took off, organ rattlingly loud, it roared towards our position, which turned out to be exactly where the pilot was banked turning away, 'spraying' the noise at the cloud......incredible, a brain tattoo....
Earlier we had done a helicopter flight over the show which included being dead above the Vulcan, what a view....W

I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

No, not familiar to me. Seems an odd one to put through auction, so I suspect there's some backstory there. Needed some tidying up, but might have been a bargain for someone. Mind you, don't know anything of its engine spec, other than the obvious, or gearbox, etc.
