View from my room isn’t bad either. Spectacularly beautiful part of the world.

The car has been running really well and is superbly comfortable to drive. I’ve got things set up nicely and it’s proving very rapid across country. I would still prefer a bit more drama and I do find myself missing the early car.

We have a cracking route planned tomorrow down to Bormio so hoping I’ll have a few opportunities to stretch the cars legs properly.

I’m following this with envy too - I must get your route from you, and any good hotels you rate along the way. Have fun Feroz.

Looks great Feroz, always jealousof alpine trips... although there is some serious commitment to drive down to the alps in a seven !!

Have a great route and hotel list as done the trip quite a few times now, happy to share.

James - I have travelled down in the relative comfort of the GT3 and a friend (Mitch of this parish) is in the 7. Both fabulous on the passes, had a great run down the Julier and Bernina today.

Spent a few nights in Bormio which is always a pleasure. Great roads, good food and spectacular scenery.

Stelvio is the most famous pass but usually very busy. Does have some appeal though.

One of the best “circuits” to do from Bormio is to take the Umbrail / Offen / Fluela passes to Davos and come back to Bormio via Albula / Bernina / Fosgagno. Every type of Alpine pass and largely free of traffic. Plenty of good coffee shops etc. on the way.

Landscape is pretty rugged…

Left Bormio and headed for Cogne stopping at Lake Como for lunch.

And the obligatory coffee (way too many on this trip)

Cogne is a lovely small town at the end of a pass that has great access to national parks for hikes etc.

Stunning views from the balcony of our apartment!

And great views of Mont Blanc once you are up in the mountains

Thanks, it was a lot of fun and nice to spend some time relaxing as well as the driving.

Next stop was Chamonix for an overnight stop and a nice walk in the morning. Just the right amount of busy and the views of Mont Blanc always take my breath away. We didn’t get to go up the mountain or on to the glacier this time but it’s a great place.

Last stop on the way home was a lovely little hilltop town called Laon. Very pretty place with some good food and we arrived during a local festival which was very colourful.
