Just mild interest as I used to own it, but I wonder if anyone knows the whereabouts of 1966 Porsche 912 reg PNK 2D. I can see it's not showing any MOT records on the gov site, although it does show up, albeit with a non original colour. Maybe its been scrapped long before there was interest in them.

.

As you probably saw on the DVLA website, the last V5 issued was in July '87 & it hasn't been taxed since the end of that year so probably either scrapped or exported (without notifying DVLA) ...

No idea of VIN, I probably got rid of all the paperwork years ago. Not important at all, I'll see if I can remember who we sold it to.

Actually I've a feeling we sold it to the Turner family from Badsey, Evesham who were known in the local Porsche and hillclimb scene in the 70's. Fred ran a 356 and I think Paul went on to run a single seater. Would any of you hill-climb guys have any contacts?

I bought 2 x 356 cars from a guy in Kent, an A VHX28 and a B, 5AOL) who bought them from Fred Turner, I went up to see Fred and Paul---this was many many years ago.
I think Fred has passed away but, yes you are correct I'm sure Paul was into single seaters then .

Good luck with your hunt.

Paul used to be a regular on the hillclimb scene, but I don't think I've seen him since the early 90's

I think it would be early 80's last I saw Fred and Paul. Interestingly the last vestiges I have of the 912 in question are driver side door inards which became spare when I went through a hedge coming home to South Brum from Fred / Pauls one night in it, and had to buy a full driver side door to replace it! I occasionally take a back route to pass the crash site and its funny how memories flood back. My memory sometimes seems crap but I can list all my past registration numbers ( for interesting cars at least ) and I think recall all my crashes.

If you have the original door then would the stamped numbers start to help with the VIN. Narrow it down a bit.
45X??? or 35X???. The ??? being your door number - then see if it tallies with anything on 912.com

Just a though. Good luck.

The original door steelwork got scrapped in the process, as it was too dinged ( this was mid 70s so they were worth very lttle and parts from broken cars seemed easy to come by), I've only got the removed mechanisms for some reason still. Good idea though.
