Anodise outer door handle

Hi,

I have a technical issue that will need some support, I know there’s a lot of people with great experience here.
So, my question is, can I anodise a door handle that is cromed original?
Of course I will remove the cromed surface.
Part no is 911.531.061/62 00
I know it’s no problem to re-anodise black door handle and both black and cromed was available for Carrera 3.0 -77, but could there be two different manufactured door handle depending if you ordered black or cromed?

Hope you understand what I mean :bounce: !
Thanks in advance
Rgds Andreas

Your in for a lot of work to remove the chrome.Plus of course the substrate plating.Better to find a plater who can do it in a tank, who anodises as well.

Well that’s the plan to do, but I’m not sure if this cromed handle will fix the anodize bath even after removed the crome.
I have heard that not all handled fix the anodize process???

ok have just looked at pictures. That is an early handle. Its "pot metal" which is difficult to plate, weld or do anything with.I finally managed to find a way, to fill in divots with this, but its very hit and miss. Not sure the anodisation process will work.
Other options are paint or cerakote.

p/n 911 531 941 28, maybe someone have for sale?

Thanks

Do you want black handles or chrome? I though c3.0 were chrome?

I'd post over on Impact Bumpers. Someone will have a good set of black handles.

Hej,

I think the answer is no - you cannot anodise steel. Anodising is simply the native oxide of the metal, dyed to the desired colour... I have never heard of dying rust, although I expect that some people have tried :)

I recently repainted my 924 Turbo door handles black using normal grey primer and Wurth black lacquer spray paint. It worked out great and I was able to achieve the original look quite easily. The great thing about this paint is that you can sand it flat and polish it to the desired sheen. The primer underneath just needs to have the orange peel effect sanded flat. I think you can buy satin gloss, which I used to get the original look, and matt...
