Headlining finished plenty oversized. Should look good once it’s stretched out :)

2001 996 Turbo, Lapis blue (am I allowed to put that here?)
I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

Got my wife ( also a quilter by trade ) to make me a replacement tool roll for the impact bumper. The outside is vinyl from the back of a 1972 Mercedes seat, rest is new vinyl.

Thanks
With some of the remaining vinyl we repaired the two side parts of the felt trunk carpet. The pop studs pulled out and the felt would not hold them. Drilled out and added a nice vinyl binding and new studs.

I'm still working out what sewing machine to get. Mrs R who is a hobby quilter is very supportive of the idea of a heavier duty machine. Just not worked out what yet!

That is very nice Mrs B has made several quilts but has no interest in applying her skills to anything car related

Morning All, resurrecting an old thread (hehe).

Mrs R is keen to sew my new Caterham mats, perhaps she's just keen to get a new sewing machine! It's carpet (rubberish backed stuff from Car Builder Solutions) with a thin rubber heel pad (from the old mats) and a binding for the edge. The thickest is carpet, rubber and binding (4 layers as it's folded on both sides if that makes sense).

And to the question to those with experience of the 201k, will it be man enough for that?

Cheers

Hey Graham.
From my experience of using a 201K (I learnt to sew using one with my mum when I was young) I'd think that it would struggle with your project.
One issue is how high the needle lifts between stitches.

I have the 201 but I can't advise as I haven't had a chance to get started on my seats yet. I ended up taking in a house project, so tied up with that a lot more than I'd like right now. :(

I heard they were used by Bentley for their upholstery. Don't know how true that is but if true, should mean it's fine for leather.
