Olive 964
So this is another project that is nearly finished. Again it won't be everyones cup of tea but it's been one of my favourite projects we have done here. I definitely don't want to give it back!
It started out as a 964 C2 Manual coupe in Diamond metallic. We start here as a stripped down shell with the roof skin removed.
[/url]
Before fitting the new roof skin it made sense to fabricate the cage, this is a weld in cage and was built by us from scratch using the 991 GT3RS cage as inspiration.
Starting with the main hoop
Followed by the rest of it, it goes through the bulkhead and attaches to the rear strut tops.
With Gusset pieces as a finishing touch.
The finished cage was then primed and painted before the roof skin as it was much easier to access.

Carbon roof?
With the cage painted it was time to bond on a carbon roof skin, these are simply glued on with a special epoxy and the edges on the pillars and in the gutter blended in with a bit of body filler.
Primer then finishes off the repair, if we were painting the roof body colour then obviously we would prime the whole roof, but we're not.
The edges are then blended with the base coat colour
The whole roof is then lacquered. (what look like seams in the carbon are actually reflections from the booth ceiling!)
Before being flatted down ready for a second round of lacquer along with the rest of the shell.

At this point it's time to get the rest of the car into paint. Black primer since it's a dark colour.
And into colour, Dark Olive Metallic a 2005 Porsche colour.
It's a cracking colour with a lot of gold under bright light.
But almost black in low light.
We had a batch of Carbon engine lids and spoilers made (1 set left if anyone's looking)
In this case the upper surface of the engine lid is painted whilst the underside is left clear.
But the spoiler was left in clear.
Panels hung loose to let it harden off for a few weeks

The colour is incredible Jon.. not dissimilar to the colour Harry Metcalfe recently painted his v12 Jag?

Holy Moses, Jon. Is there no end to your talent? I wish I could afford to have you build my ultimate 914! Well it would make a change from all these ultimate 911s! Simply awesome.

Wow. Its hard to tell the colour of the paint, its like a mirror. I'm one lottery win away from commissioning my own!

Re: Olive 964
Not the olive I was expecting from the title but it looks a stunning colour. I bet it zings in natural daylight.
Superb work as usual Jon.

Maybe not for the purists Jon but no questioning the quality of what you do is sublime!
