Here I am, back.......

Post by Viv_Surby »

Well hello everyone - those that I know and those that I don't

Some years ago I bought a RHD 912 shell, without it's engine that had an 'R light' look that at one stage belonged to Miggs.

So in summary.....

Bought a 3.2 engine, put PMO carbs on it and popped it in
Upgraded brakes and suspension
Added to the 'R' look slightly
Shipped it to Australia where I was living at the time - had the devils own job to get it road approved for use in WA. Returned to UK and left it in Aus for sale, maket there tanked so returned it to UK.
Got it back on the road in UK
Store it in my folks garage during the winter and returning it to hibernation in Autumn 2019 managed to scrape the wheel arch on the garage door...bugger! So after Covid disrption etc - Simon Gunney (yes Ian's brother) at Red Castle Classics agrees to undertake repair....this is where tale of woe starts......bascially it needs a huge amount of surgery to get it sorted again.

Currently the list is.....

Inner and outer sills - both sides
L & RH kidney bowls
L & RH door jambs
LH floor pan
LH side member
Rebuild both door bottoms and frames

Lots of the work is now complete and will send some pics of the 'challenges' in due course.

Look forward to becoming more active here again and re-engaging with my love of air cooled Porsches!

Good to see you back here Viv !

I had often wondered what had happened to Miggs' old car - now I know !

Sorry to hear of the unexpected repairs but at least it's in safe hands for the remedial work.
