3.2 main bearings and cam chains?

Post by 911hillclimber »

Been on order now for around 3 weeks on back order via Design911.
Any thoughts on supplies appearing as Des911 do not have a date.

Yes, Gary said the same.
Classic Car show today, but have to see if I can cancel the order I have on Des911 too, but worth the double spend to get going on the engine when the rods arrive.

I got main bearings and big ends for my 356 from a German specialist. I think I searched German eBay for him, very efficient he was too despite language problems.

Rose have them in stock.
Will see first if I can cancel the Des911 order first.
Much more expensive due to taxes....

Wife against it.

www.Partsinmotion.co.uk claim to have the main bearings in stock and currently with a 20% discount - might be an option.
I can't see the timing chains there but Eurocarparts have them in stock.

Just a heads up, I've been awaiting a panel from Design 911 about 3 months. They keep promising me a new date and it never comes through on the promised date. They're always super-confident it'll come next time though.

I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

So far I've had good service from then I have to say.
Today advised the cam chains are now on their way to me but the bearings are still awaited, but were expected soon.
The chains have arrived before they advised me.

Everyone is at the mercy of the supply chain...

I'm not hating on Design 911 - just reporting my experience on this delayed panel so you know they may string you along. Experience on other items has been fine. I've found that when you phone and a real person gets on the case, they make an effort to get stuff out to you quickly to make amends.

I do dislike they do not tell you things are out of stock on the web site, you order, and then you are told. Several motorcycle suppliers do this too, stock is in the USa, not UK.

I hope the promise of the bearings by the end of November is good, the date for the chains was bang-on.
TBH, I went there for the 7% discount on my £1000 order.

I think with all suppliers these days, it is best to ring to check stock. A few months back Quaife were stating they has ATB diffs in stock on the web, but when you rang there was a 2 month delay.

Have to say I have had no problems with T911, D911 or RP
Cheers

Mike

Re your pursuit of parts I saw this ad and thought of you
https://racecarsdirect.com/Advert/Detai ... etc-conrod

simply because he's a parts broker and says give him a buzz and let him know what you need... might get you out of a pickle if time is getting short.
