I think that’s about it for now. This week-end I’m hoping to install the dryer, and then start connecting high presssure hoses and also wiring

Once that’s all done I’ll need to drop the engine to sort that snapped stud.

Oh and I’ve also sent the engine fan and housing off to Angus at Greatworth for refurbishing

Sounds like a slog! I guess with all the myriad of variations of the 911 heating system it was always going to be a challenging.
Bit like getting the wipers in and out, seemingly impossible unless you take the completely non instinctive route!

Yes I’ve felt it’s fought me at every stage so far - but this was really to be expected as the car wasn’t designed with space for all this stuff and a lot of the stuff I’m fitting is exposing parts of the car that are missing or knackered so that in turn is leading to more work.

This morning I went to attach the Bowden cable only to find that the original nut looked like this

So I then had to get another bolt (the lever will take M6 and drill a hole through that to take the cable and fit into this tight space

Image

I had to remove the hose clamp to allow the Bowden cable to be attached.

Then the new face vent had arrived. ~I was contemplating having to sand the new one to get it to fit exactly into my thinner singer-style dash and then suddenly had a flash of inspiration. I’d ordered new because the levers on my vent had broken. instead of cutting up the new vent I just robber the levers and flap from the new one and fitted it into my existing one. happy days (even if that meant I’d paid £100 for a small plastic lever)

Well no one seems to be interested any more (thanks Gary). I suppose things change and people aren’t so interested in this stuff any more - we’re all more used to watching videos. No problem it’ll save me wasting time taking photos and writing it up.

I’ll stick a post on here when it’s finished.

You can put all the work in just for me. I love it :)

Lack of responses never means nobody is looking or not interested.

When I start my Member's Other threads I expect this scenario, but you need to check the visits which i do .
If the visits are good then many are indeed interested!
My engine machining little thread for the 5cc engine has an amazing viewing, but very few responses.

Since last Thursday the views have been 1330, comments 2.

If viewers have nothing to add then so be it, some subjects are like that, but to have these views means people are following repeatedly, and there will be a group of regulars watching for sure.

I hope you keep serving-up these updates, i find them great and thought provoking.

On another Forum i have a long running thread on the Lola. Been going for about 13 years since I started the search for it's chassis number.

Currently at nearly 3000 responses, but 973,000 hits. I expect to reach 1,000,000 hit by the mid year. This has been a great encouragement to me, found my chassis number years ago by it and a lot more besides.

Mark you are an inspiration
What you do is all amazing
I do think that the electric version looks like hard work and wonder whether the old porsche way of driving a compressor off a fan belt might be easier!

.
I'm another one who always looks forward to your updates Mark - please don't get disillusioned by the lack of replies.

As James said, yours is one of the 'stand out' cars on DDK - no job or problem on it seems to faze you - you simply get stuck in until you've solved the problem/completed the job - so keep posting !

.

Sladeys hotrod and Mark's work over the years is the very epitome of DDK, in my opinion.

Long may it continue!
