73 914/4 wiring diagram online
This link doesn't work
https://www.pelicanparts.com/914/914_el ... agrams.htm
Are the wiring digrams available anywhere else on line? I'm trying to track an issue with my gauge background lights not work. I have the light switch and hazard switch out but I can't find my manual to workout what colour the wires are. I understood it was the black with blue strip from the light switch.

Hi Neil,
there is a copy in the workshop manual here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/10005 ... tml#manual
I forget, but thought there was a copy in either the owners manual or the blue book guide.
All the best
Andrew

This is for a 1974 - wiring colours won't have changed.

Re: 73 914/4 wiring diagram online
Neil, not sure the '74 wiring diagram will help you, as the indicator tell tale lights changed from '73 to '74. Pre '74 had a left and right tell tale, from '74 only one bulb as shown as K5 in that diagram.
If you want to understand the differences there is a useful post here

Well that is useful but I don't completely understand.
This evening I checked that all the indicators are working.
I going to try swapping over the bulb holders for the indicators, seeing that they are quite corroded, to see if that is the cause. I did clean them.
I didn't understand the bit about rewiring at the end of the post? If there a way to avoid the hazard switch?

I think the rewiring info is to add an earlier tacho to a later car to get both turn indicators into the tacho.
Assuming you have not fitted any LED bulbs then worth checking all the bulbs are the correct ratings and that the holders are clean from corrosion.
Good luck.
Andrew

Ok swapping the bulb holders didn't help.
They aren't in great condition so I've ordered some more. I couldn't find the flasher relay. Which I believe is square and normally above the fuse board?

Cleaned and refitted. I only changed one connector but the same issue. As it's a real pain and they looked pretty clean.
Strangely initially the left indicator when pressed doesn't double flash but the right joins in after 2 flashes.
Now to find the relay

Re: 73 914/4 wiring diagram online
hi
Ive added a couple of photos that Ive dug out from my rewire that might help. My car as a 1976 but Ive got a couple of bits from 73 onwards.
First one is just for a laugh - a nostalgic look back at my wiring loom testing (I only swore once per minute)
Testing by Andrew Brown, on Flickr
Im not sure which model this is for but might help:-

This one says 73 and onwards:-

Ill have another look through the post to see if anything triggers my memory
thanks

I think the picture in this link shows a 1973 fuse board and I think the square relay to the right is the flasher relay, worth comparing yours just to see if you have the same box/layout

I got my back lights working for the gauges and found my flasher relay hidden in the dash. New one ordered
