I notice there is a meeting on at the week-end and I have never been there so I was thinking it might be fun.
Is anyone else from here going?
I remember reading Raymond Mays book about his racing there in everything from Brescia Bugattis to twin rear wheel ERAs.
It seems a shame that I have not been there already.

3 x DDK members will be there, competing!

Jonathan, Very Fast 911
Paul, Too Fast RSR
Graham 'Just cruising in my Lola'

Should be a keen meeting with Championship points very much for the taking or at risk.
Weather looking Cool, Calm and nearly collected.
Very atmospheric place, nice beer too.

Practice for us on Sat and race Sunday, but lots of other classes running Saturday too.

Yes, I’m hiding just around the corner to escape the car park that is the M5 on a Friday, get set up nice and early, then chill with a pint (or two or three) and be ready for a fun weekend.
Unfortunately yellow491 can’t make it, so there will be a mad scramble for his normal first place!
See you there!

I think I might stop by on Sunday. What time does the fun start?

First practice runs start at 09.00 both days. We’ll be in the first two batches. The timed runs start immediately after, probably about 10.30, with the British Championship run-off just before lunch. After lunch there’s another complete set of runs concluding with another run-off for the British Championship.
Extremely spectacular to watch with single seat racing cars that can out-accelerate a F1 car to 100mph.
Best to book in on-line first.
Cheers

I forgot to say that there are 2 more DDK’rs in action at Shelsley this weekend, Ross in his beautiful 911 “SCRS” backdate, and Uncle Bill in his wonderful 904FF

Shame there's no on-line coverage. Been told there's no live streaming and I can't see any live timing. Or am I looking in the wrong place?

Yes it was lovely.
Got there in time to see the blindingly fast racing cars.
It has a more condensed pit area than Prescott and a great course with a really long straight at the top.
Yes it was fun and good to put some miles on the 911 but the drive was a bit of a mission- 300 miles mostly on motorways with perhaps 10 miles of great roads near Shelsey when I got a bit lost. However the weather on the way back was much better and I had the roof off most of the way and played tag with a V8 Morgan for much of the way.
Uncle Bill's 904 captivated me as did the Alpine.

Bill's 904 getting some tape on it. Graham's boss telling him to get moving or he will miss his batchImageImage

Lack of live feed was a real shame, as it was such a fabulous meeting, with the long standing course record being broken 3 times in nearly as many minutes in the first Championship run-off.
Live timing was available on http://www.resultsman.co.uk, where the times can now be found.
We had a good weekend, just arrived home, so I’ll report more tomorrow.

The tape was to hold up the tow strap. Nothing serious.

It was a great meeting and The FF is now getting me up Shelsley Walsh regularly in the 37's. 36 secs here we come!
