Highly unlikely to experience IMSB failure on a 2.5 - it uses a dual row bearing which is generally regarded to be utterly reliable. But you probably know that.
Rebuild a 2.7/3.2? Install the latest Porsche Big Bearing and these seem to fit and forget. Have one installed in my 3.7 M96.
250 miles on it already! Looks very nice for the money

£17 code reader off Amazon paired to free app revealed a misfire in cylinder 2…it was bogging a bit…Design 911 supplied plugs and coil packs so thats all done, easy enough and now running sweetly and no more error code. Air and cabin filter changed. Oil and filter change next. So many “how to” videos on YouTube covering all of this.
Hard to beat a Boxster.
Beware if you have an early 911 though, you will be distracted by the Boxster more and more and the old girl will get left behind.
4.5 years in with mine and 5K/year miles.

Totally correct.
Lured to the Porsche region gathering some years ago by Arfor.
Really nice day.
Infamously got 34 mpg due to all the traffic from home over to the Beach!

On reflection I wish I’d stuck with my 987 and not bought the 718, which wasn’t reliable, was too noisy and had a very poor heating and aircon system. Flaws are acceptable if less money is involved.
Now done over 1000 miles in the 986, including several commutes to London. Its a great car, I love the early steering wheel and gearknob - feels more 993 than 996.
You have the benefit of tall profile tyres!
Mine is on 19" rims, 1" wider than stock and road surfaces hinder progress, don't be tempted to put bigger wheels on it.
When you own one you realise what a good design it is, even if the detail design is weak in places.
When running right, they are great in any situation.
